Tullacondra Green Energy will work closely with local communities, businesses and residents in seeking to ensure that it will bring real benefits and help to meet national climate change targets through the proposed Tullacondra Green Energy Project.
Local employment opportunities
The project will also support the creation of employment, in the supply, construction and maintenance sectors, based on SEAI estimates, will be in the region of over 150 direct and indirect jobs. In addition, Tullacondra Green Energy has committed to utilising local suppliers where possible.
Community benefit
Tullacondra Green Energy is committed to creating a wind energy development that is socially responsible and provides a substantial community benefit fund where community participation plays a central role.
The new Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) is a pivotal component of the National Energy and Climate Plan and is essential for achieving Ireland’s 80% renewable electricity target by 2030. All RESS projects must establish a Community Benefit Fund to be used for the wider economic, environmental, social and cultural well-being of the local community.
In line with Community Benefit Fund Guidelines, governed by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), and based on the current project scope, we will work in partnership with local residents to form a committee to oversee the administration of a Community Benefit Fund, estimated at approximately €250,000 per annum over the first 15 years of the project.
The committee will be established once the project successfully completes the planning permission process and will oversee direct financial payments for projects to support community development, education, recreation, health, social inclusion, heritage and culture.
